  Trinesha Goebel State Farm in Mason was my first experience in the insurance industry. This was a summer internship and I only did a couple of things. I started with calling all current customers and setting up IFR which are Insurance Financial Reviews. I also had the opportunity to go out to community events to connect with out customers as well. Another task I had was filing and organizing files and making sure everything was put away. This was a great experience to see if I was comfortable with calling and talking with customers. Show less

  During my first two years at Ferris State I worked in the athletic workout area. I helped maintain the small workout area for the athletes. I also helped set up workout stations for the different groups we had come in during the day. After every team leaves I would have to rack the weights and wipe down all the equipment.

  I accepted this internship to help me understand and get a feel for the corporate side. Also I wanted to get the experience of what an underwriter does and is. This was a great experience and I got more of an understand of all the different areas of insurance. Below are a few responsibilities I had well at Auto-Owners:-Learn various insurance coverages and contracts along with company philosophy to make underwriting decisions-Participate in and successfully complete the Company underwriter training program-Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of risks-Effectively communicate with independent agents-Become familiar with company policies, manuals, forms and endorsements in order to understand their meaning and use.   Personal account manager

  I have been working at State Farm part-time during the school year. I have had the opportunity to see everything from collecting premium to selling the products. I am fully licensed meaning I have my license in Property and Casualty and Life and Health. During the summer time I had the opportunity with the agency to start selling but during semesters I more service. This job has been a great way to dive into my insurance career. Below are some of the responsibilities I have currently: - Communicate with customers over the phone and in person- Learn word tracks for sales and executed what I learned to help increase the book of business- Help pivot customers to other lines of insurance to better protect themselves and their family- Help Develop leads, schedule appointments, and identify customer needs- Take payments over the phone and help clients file claims Show less
