  • About me

    Director at Berlage, LLC.

  • Education

    • Shimer College

      1966 - 1970
Only attended one year. This was an excellent academic school, with all students having IQ's 130+ All course were interdisciplinary, 18 of 24 required, I began the prodess No grades were given at Shimer College

Activities and Societies: I was adapting to the first environment I had ever been in which was composed of people as intelligent or more so than myself and whose experience, education and otherwise was far advanced from mine. It was like entering another world, similar to moving to Europe at age 18. I learned an enormous amount, among them that my dream of being a sort of ground breaking thinker like Kant or Sakyamuni or even an excellent scholar like Bertrand Russell was not the path for me. I set my sights on Antioch College and returned to Bloomington, where I had a base and worked two full-time jobs for a couple years, then was full-time student at Illinois State University (basic courses) and continued my job as Night Maintenance Machinist at Beich's in order to amass enough money to afford Antioch. I have been self-supporting since age 10 and my "family" (with the exception of my Grandparents, aunts and uncles_) has never helped my life in any way.

    • Normal Community High School

      1961 - 1962
      High School graduation 12

Activities and Societies: I supported myself from age 10 on and had little time to play in the way children who has functional parents do.

    • Abingdon Public Schools

      1950 - 1959

Activities and Societies: Future Farmers of America

    • Antioch College

      1968 - 1971
AB Philosophy of Education/Psychology We were way past grades, you grade eggs, pickles and pork, not creative people.

Activities and Societies: Antioch was a work/study school and during my work periods I worked as: Laborer/Teacher, Frontier College, Toronto, Canada, Associate National Program Coordinator, Frontier College, Toronto, Canada and Faculty Intern, Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio 9 months before graduation (after 6 months as a Faculty Intern) I was hired as Faculty member at Antioch College so was both student and faculty for that period. I then became Association Director of the Center for Cooperative Education specializing in Education and Prisons. Also Chaired a committee to redefine the curriculum for the experiential half of the college and represented the Extramural Department (subsequently the Center for Cooperative Education) on the budget committee.

I was a Jet Fighter mechanic 43151C as I remember, we were called Crew Chief's. I also played international competition chess for the Air Force. Eventually I became Night Flight Chief of C Flight and supervised all of the activities of the aircraft for which we were responsible.

    • Kathryn Beich Candy Company

      May 1966 - Aug 1968
      Night Maintenance Machinist

First to maintain machinery in a factory (very old) with 850 employees manufacturing and distributing a wide variety of candy products, largely thru non-profit groups. This was done simultaneously to being a Welder at Portable Elevator Company for 1.5 years. There we made farm machinery of various sorts. Then I established a sort of burnout (five hours with no memory at all) and realized that 85 hour a week workload was excessive so I quit my welding job and picked up a full-load at Illinois State University, keeping my job at Beichs. During this short period at a school which was "graded" I maintained a 4.0 average. Show less

Then I was appointed head of the program, National Program Coordinator which meant I recruited and supported 108 Labourer/Teachers in remote areas throughout Canada.
