  I led IA management activities within GALVmed, including managing the organization's IA portfolio, implementing strategies for accessing and deploying livestock technologies, carrying out diligence ahead of technology development initiatives, as well as drafting and negotiating high-value licenses and other commercial agreements with partners in the US and EMEA.In this role I worked closely with the directors of both the R&D and Operations departments to proactively identify activities where IP was likely to be generated as well as where opportunities existed for commercializing IP to achieve the organization's short-medium term objectives, as well as long-term sustainability goals. I also worked with these departments to develop and implement an IP management software system which linked the organization's IA portfolio with projects, timelines, financials and contractual obligations for more seamless management of IP and associated risks.The IP management approach implemented at the organization was commended by stakeholders, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as trailblazing in nature and a "best-practice" to be adopted by other organizations with a humanitarian mandate. I directly supported my clients and their legal advisers on implementing practical steps to be taken either prior to or following transaction completion to mitigate identified IP risks and increase post-transaction business success.
