      Cal student orientation leader

      Worked as a student orientation leader for one summer, leading over 16 groups of students and parents as they begin their journey at Cal. One of the best experiences being able to work with incoming students, but also one of the most intensive -- learned about student affairs, conflict resolution, team building, and much more.Duties included:- Customized programming for sixteen groups of 15-20 students and parents attending Summer Orientation.- Improved skills on public speaking, group facilitation, peer advising, problem solving, public relations, and conflict resolution while working with diversity of attendees.- Delegated and collaborated on tasks with a team of 39 orientation leaders and professional staff, making the two-day orientations each consisting of 300-500 people run smoothly.- Facilitated conversations on several topics such as campus climate, diversity and difficulties of being a new student. Communicated to an audience of 300+ people about my Cal narrative.- Maximized collaboration with the College of Natural Resources' advising team, who catered presentations to students in biology and environmental-related majors.NOTE: CalSO's last hurrah was in summer of 2016.
