      • Duty and Assessment Team in the Salford area, that has on average 300 referrals per week and all contact/referrals have to be dealt within 24 hours and allocated to a social worker• This included allocating to specialised social workers from Missing from Home Team, Children with Disabilities Team, locality for Early Intervention Project or to family support services or relevant parenting courses.• While reviewing each case, I would consider the level of need and what threshold it meets; Level 1 would be referred back to Universal services. Level 2-3 would be held with the TAC, CAF arena, I would complete a referral to these services. Level 4's would be completed by myself by allocating it to a social worker, this was usually 27% of the cases we receivedpeople who were at risk from family breakdown. Also a social worker who specialised in young While working at Salford Children Services I would receive a spread sheets weekly regarding dates, timescales for assessments and when they are due, and would speak to each social worker on an individual basis to ensure that all assessments are within the government’s timescales• This involves ensuring that the social worker has a manageable timescale and that this is monitored within supervision and on a regular basis• It is important that the quality of the assessment is not compounded by keeping to the timescales; this can be difficult at times, due to constraints of caseloads and prioritising other work• This is about ensuring there is clear communication between the manager and the social worker• All assessments had to be authorised within the same day, with a management decision imputed on them. I had a hard working team and I feel that they recognised that I was willing to support them and worked hard to ensure that their assessments remained in timescales• My team was the best performing within the directorate Show less
