I took the step from Human Resources into Operations to strengthen my leadership skills and commercial acumen. I achieved this goal, while delivering sustained and tangible commercial improvements. Key Achievements:• Exceeded ambitious budget in first year (FY17-18). First time in six years the business achieved budget.• Consistently improved customer service levels (SIFOT >98% H1 FY18-19).• Achieved year on year improvement in employee engagement. • Drove commercial improvements across broader business through the internalisation of all waste disposal and processing, thereby enabling Post Collections business to exceed budget targets. • Increased diversion from landfill delivering on mission to Make a Sustainable Future Possible. • Increased owner driver ratio by 20%, driving cultural change and commercial improvements. • Improved safety performance – TRIFR reduction of 2 points to <10 in first 12 months. • Successfully integrated largest Australian waste contract (Coles).• Integrated additional fleet, people and customers as part of $671M acquisition of Toxfree and Daniel’s Health. I completed this role concurrently to my secondment as Project Manager (Recycling) and Branch Manager role.Key Achievements:• Due diligence informing $66M acquisition.• Optimised organisational structure with receivers, Korda Mentha in readiness for post-sale operations. • Advised leadership team, including CEO, through implementation phase while SKM was in receivership.• Led HR team to identify, employ and onboard 137 individuals across three states and six locations. • Drove people outcomes to optimise business performance as Cleanaway returns its newly acquired assets and new team members back to a sustainable footing.• Successfully integrated business handing over project to BAU state, including development of HR Lead to partner with business in BAU state. Show less Cleanaway is Australia’s leading recycling, waste management and industrial services company, an ASX100 listed company and employs over 6,000 people. I led the project team and managed an initiative to move from a comingled (Harvest) recycling model to a separation at source model. Escalated business case for change, engaged service providers (collections), developed pricing, managed engagement of >4,000 customers, restructured recycling business (eliminating sorting requirement) and implemented conversion of service model. Key Achievements:• Delivered budgeted cost reduction of $1.5M pa.• Exceeded project deliverables ahead of schedule. • Improved diversion from landfill through reduced contamination. • Concurrent to the project I successfully led the negotiation of an EA, delivering significant commercial improvements and averting industrial action amongst a highly unionised workforce. Show less Reporting directly to the Executive Team, I was People Lead for a project to build Cleanaway’s first ‘Super Site’ and integrate numerous businesses previously operating from other facilities. The site hosts a growing >260 employees, >150 heavy vehicles, numerous on-site contractors, a fabrication facility and a 22-bay heavy vehicle workshop. Managing the change process, I led numerous EA variations and negotiations, consulted workgroups and unions, and delivered structural improvements and commercial synergies. I also acted as an Operational Lead, redesigning workspaces to provide efficient utilisation of the $5.27M capital investment.
