      Sixth Form Academic Scholarship - Sep 2010 Stamford High School's scholarship provision is designed to recognise students with outstanding talents and skills in a variety of fields. All pupils in Year 11 are eligible to apply for an Academic Scholarship. To apply for an Academic Scholarship for the Sixth Form, pupils should have expected grades of at least 5A* at GCSE and shall be required to complete two scholarship papers.

      Interski Scholarship Interski Snowsports School Feb 2010 Each winter, Interski instructors assess performance, personality and adaptability of their students. Where these criteria are met, they supply a video on the students in question and 30 of them are invited to a day's intensive training in the UK. They will be assessed on their ability to both understand and perform to an acceptable level within these areas. Participants face mental and physical challenges, learn about the environment, step outside their comfort zone and become adaptable to new surroundings. Trip included:- acclimatization treks out from Leh incorporating visits to places of local cultural importance such as temples and monasteries.- project work carried out in a local primary school by… Show more This award helps develop and demonstrate leadership qualities, organisational skills, budgeting experience and problem solving. Participants face mental and physical challenges, learn about the environment, step outside their comfort zone and become adaptable to new surroundings. Trip included:- acclimatization treks out from Leh incorporating visits to places of local cultural importance such as temples and monasteries.- project work carried out in a local primary school by helping with maintenance work, painting murals, fixing buildings and general odd jobs.- main trekking phase was a 6 day journey to reach the Base Camp of Stok Kangri. The physical phase was a difficult and demanding high altitude trek and a challenging ascent of Stok Kangri (6153m). Teams took ice axes and crampons to tackle the glacier over which we trekked to reach the summit. Show less
