  Presence Health allowed me to further my skills in the outpatient and acute care setting, splitting my time between two settings allowed me to practice time management skills and increased my comfort level with a wide variety of patients. In the outpatient care setting, I worked with children and adults suffering from fractures, tendon repairs, sprains, hand deformities, pain, and stroke. Client's injuries required use of modalities, pain and edema management, strengthening and ROM, and home exercise plans. Use of splints, both prefabricated and dynamic, providing hand on experience for fitting, adjusting, and creating splints. Working the acute care floors 10-15 hours a week provided education on cardiac disorders, orthopedic conditions, neurological disorders, general medicine, ICU, and necessary precautions. All sessions were occupation based with graded interventions and required excellent time management skills. Show less

  At Marianjoy I worked on the orthopedic floor serving all fractures and joint replacements for the adult population. Marianjoy allowed me to develop education on proper hip precautions (anterior and posterior), proper self-care assessments, vision assessments, weight bearing precautions, proper and safe transfers, and use of and teaching of adaptive equipment. At Marianjoy I worked closely with the physician, case manager, physical therapist, speech language pathologist, and nursing. As a team we discussed patients on a weekly basis creating proper goals and discharge dates. Show less
