Apr 2004 - nowCo-ownerI am the co-owner of Pocher Farm which uses sustainable growing practices to harvest fresh vegetables as well as raising pasture fed beef, poultry, pork, bees and farm fresh eggs. We have created 10 pastures using 3 strand electric fencing and use rotational grazing practices to manage the land. We have built a winter shelter for cows, 3 chicken houses, a pig shelter, an apiary and two portable chicken tractors. Our goal is to provide fresh produce, honey and humanely raised meat to our community. Show less

When possible, the leader immerses the guests in our natural surroundings, offering a real Vermont experience. He may also assist in additional tasks, and programs on property. Duties & Responsibilities: Lead and create seasonal activities. These activities include, but are not limited to the following: Family history tour, Brewery tour, Agricultural walks to the sugar house, cows, pigs, sheep, bees, etc., forest ecology and wildflower walks. Assist in additional tasks which may include: Maintaining the Apiary, Race day preparation, Winter trail grooming, Trail building and maintenance, Livestock care, Sugar bush maintenance and syrup production, Retail sales and rentals, creating soups for guests at the Slayton Pasture Cabin, Guiding and transporting media crews, and guided special events. Required Skills & Knowledge: Ability to research and retain historical facts, dates and anecdotes and relate that information to visitors in an interesting, informative way. Demonstrate exemplary customer service. Punctual and dependable. Flexible, able to multi-task, and work without supervision. Ability to relate to a diverse population. Skilled in chainsaw safety, operation, and tree felling. Well versed in the flora and fauna of the Trapp Family Lodge property. Extensive knowledge of the brewery, brewing equipment, and beer making process. Wealth of knowledge in beekeeping and honey production.
