      During the 12 years that I was at Sears, I managed many different product categories. In my last position as a senior merchandise buyer, I managed sales of $125M and profits of $80M. I was responsible for the building and implementation of financial and marketing plans, pricing, profit negotiations, assortment planning, merchandise procurement, and supply chain management. I worked with vendors directly to negotiate costs, forecast inventory needs, and ensure that financial goals including sales, margin, and turnover were achieved. I had extensive involvement with private brand designers, technical and spec designers, and sourcing, on the selection of products, fittings, sourcing, and costing of private label products. With national brand suppliers, I cultivated strong relationships and strategized exclusive programs, marketing campaigns, and strong financial partnerships. Understanding the competitive marketplace was extremely important and staying on top of relevant trends was imperative. I managed and trained a large team of associate buyers, planners, and supply chain experts as well as interim DMM. This position involved extensive domestic travel.• Grew total private label business from 24 to 40% through extensive market knowledge, careful attention to detail, and strong understanding of customer needs.• Negotiated costs, vendor margin support, and pricing, resulting in increased sales (up to 8%), improved gross margin (4-6%), and turnover (up to 5%). • Strategized with vendors on an exclusive program and marketing campaign which included the implementation of a shop concept in all 1200 Sears locations and resulted in additional sales of $25M. • Acknowledged as a standout leader, selected to participate in the Keller School of Management’s negotiation program, and subsequently entrusted with the responsibility of training fellow associates. • Organized and facilitated national business meetings bi-annually for 400+ field members.
