In my last position as a senior merchandise buyer, I managed sales of $125M and profits of $80M. I was responsible for the building and implementation of financial and marketing plans, pricing, profit negotiations, assortment planning, merchandise procurement, and supply chain management. I worked with vendors directly to negotiate costs, forecast inventory needs, and ensure that financial goals including sales, margin, and turnover were achieved. I had extensive involvement with private brand designers, technical and spec designers, and sourcing, on the selection of products, fittings, sourcing, and costing of private label products. With national brand suppliers, I cultivated strong relationships and strategized exclusive programs, marketing campaigns, and strong financial partnerships. Understanding the competitive marketplace was extremely important and staying on top of relevant trends was imperative. I managed and trained a large team of associate buyers, planners, and supply chain experts as well as interim DMM.
