      Thirteen months full time (Co-op year, during my degree). The majority of my time was spent designing a new marine gearbox (PRM80), based on an existing larger gearbox to be used for manoeuvring pleasure boats in and out of harbour. The unit was in production for 10+ years.

      Developed a new modular design of Instrument Panel for the second-generation Ranger and Everest as part of the platform modernisation schedule. Role Description / deliverables:• Led the design with 6 CAD Engineers during the system and design development.• Conducted “digital twin” Platform, assembly, sub-assembly and component reviews to maximise efficiency in the manufacturing and assembly• Conduct a digital V & V through developing several Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models with the CAE teams to digitally validate the design ensuring it met system intent prior to making prototypes or production parts.• Produced prototypes for management reviews and V & V assessments prior to making production tooling. Show less Starting at System Requirement Specification through to Utilization of multiple components, assemblies, modules across multiple platforms. Managed complex interactions with stakeholders using engineering tools including CAD, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and FEA for strength / rigidity assessments.To summarise my work during this time I was designing new or updating existing modules / assemblies / parts that were required to perform their function in a limited space, not unlike the challenges experienced in ship building.
