Their writing was compiled into a magazine titled Writing Around Memory and Place, and an evening of poetry, memories & short stories at the Peace Cafe in Dili celebrated the launch of their work in the magazine.

The conference was fully supported by RELO Jakarta and U.S. Embassy in Dili. Fifty Timorese teachers and 13 Indonesian teachers worked together and learned from the workshops facilitated by the 14 English Language Fellows based in Indonesia and East Timor. The hands-on workshops focused on various aspects of teaching English – teaching with materials developed by the Office of English Language Programs; developing effective classroom management strategies; using low-cost, effective tools such as graphic organizers; sharing techniques for working with large and diverse classrooms; and correcting errors in the communicative classroom. This joint conference provided a unique opportunity for the teachers from the two countries to meet and work together recalling the past political conflicts that brought East Timor to its independence from Indonesia in 2002. These dynamic future teacher leaders developed strong and lasting bonds that will impact the entire archipelago. In their own words, campers reported that "the camp is a great activity space to learn accepting differences... as well as how to tolerate each other. In that way, we could be more open-minded." And Camp EPIC developed creativity and independence, which is “very important as 21st century teachers are challenged by many things... and must be open to changes to adapt.
