This study involves the real time estimation of brain tissue deformation during neurosurgery using intra-operative imaging and image processing, and the control of a neurosurgical robot for accurate and timely targeting of the brain abnormality without affecting the surrounding healthy tissues.• Developing dynamic image registration strategy to track dislocation and deformities in tumour tissues during neurosurgery o Ultrasound imaging o Image processing- Image registration (Coherent Point Drift algorithm , Iterative Closest Point algorithm)• Develop hybrid supervisory controller for fine control of robotic end-effector to accurately target tumour in real time o Direct Model Reference Adaptive Controller and PID controller with a Supervisory Control Show less 1. 'Blind Robot' - 2011-12 development commission for Robots and Avatars Projects • Kinematic modelling (forward and inverse) of the 6 DOF robot arm+3 DOF of each finger • Programming in C/C++ using Dynamixel APIs and Armadillo linear algebra library for control of joint motors (Dynamixels) • Implemented a Master-Slave configuration for controlling the robotic arms • Programmed Acceleglove® and integrated with forward kinematics to obtain hand orientation2. Robotic arm using Pneumatic Artificial Muscle • Kinematics of the robotic arm structure: antagonistic muscle actuator • Calibration/Position control of fluidic muscles o Taking into account load and pressure variation Show less
