      Public Health, Traditional Medicine and Community Empowerment

      Studied intersection between indigenous healthcare and biomedical healthcare system in recently reformed "intercultural" public health system of Chile.Conducted qualitative study of how the combination of indigenous and bio-medical practices affects the health of children under two years old. Attended seminars with indigenous healers in Peruvian, Argentinian, and Chilean tribes. Lived with Chilean family for 4 months

      Coached patients to improve self management of their asthma and COPD as part of the pilot study and R01 study of the Pulmonary Specialist Health Coach Consultation model of care. Collaboratively designed, implemented and evaluated study workflows and instruments. Designed, delivered, and continuously improved communication elements of the Virtual Training Academy curriculum, which has trained over 12,000 contact tracers and case investigators and 1,800 vaccine outreach workers.
