  As the Director of the International Office I grew international student revenue by over 50% during the time of the SARS outbreak and challenging international economic circumstances.I was responsible for managing an on-shore staff of over 20 people and an off-shore staff of 15. During my tenure in the role there was the lowest staff turnover in over 10 years. I successfully led the team during a period of rapid change and disruption.I successfully managed an Agent Commissions budget of over $7 million whilst building successful relationships with Agents. I grew the Agent network through key strategic countries thus allowing the footprint of UNSW to be spread further throughout the world. Show less During my time in this role I successfully negotiated a new freight contract which saved the UNSW $250K per annum. I also successfully lobbied for funding for extra staff in a rapidly growing international student recruitment market.Seconded to Singapore to manage the relocation of UNSW Asia students and staff following its abrupt closure. Successfully facilitated a smooth transition of over 130 students and numerous staff members. I was commended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) for my handling of the sensitive and difficult situation with empathy and professionalism.After this major project I was able to provide ongoing strategic advice to the Executive Director International which built the foundation for my transition to my next role as Director.   As the inaugural Director - Diplomatic and Network Relations I was responsible for high level relationship management, international relations, business development and community engagement. I successfully managed a team of International Affairs Coordinators and various casual staff along with International Student Interns as required.The position required me to develop excellent project management skills as we ran a number of major events/projects each year which required us to position the University in as Australia's Leading Global University.During my tenure in the position, UNSW Sydney engaged the most actively with the Sydney and Canberra based diplomatic community for all the key source countries. UNSW was approached as the first port of call for high level visiting delegations of Ministers and Heads of State and requested to host these important strategic partners. Show less
