  ▶️ In a nutshell, to reach the PhD. status at the University Pablo de Olavide, I characterized a complex regulatory system that controlled the biodegradation pathway of a xenobiotic compound broadly found in nature. Thesis awarded with the Extraordinary Doctoral award. Besides, I also achieved several successful short-terms at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and at the University of Saarland (Germany). ▶️ For those interested in the scientific details of the proyect, my thesis work focused on understanding the regulatory mechanisms that control a xenobiotic biodegradation pathway of the Gram– bacteria Sphingomonas macrogolitabida strain TFA. The regulatory system of this pathway is composed by a LysR-type transcriptional activator (ThnR) and the co-activator ThnY, which shows homology with ferredoxin reductases of initial dioxygenase complex of aromatic compounds degradation. In addition, the expression of the thn operons is negatively modulated by a ferredoxin (ThnA3), that avoids gratuitous induction of the metabolic pathway. I worked characterizing in vivo and in vitro how ThnY exercises its function as co-regulator, and how is established the communication between the ferredoxin and the regulatory system, by using genetic and biochemical approaches.▶️ Key words:Gene expression regulation, Bacteria, Gram-, Xenobiotic compounds, Biodegradation, complex regulatory systems.Expertise in Bacterial Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Managerial.
