  New Hope, Inc. is a non-profit that works with victims of domestic violence. During my time with New Hope I worked in 2 of their shelters (safe houses). After a series of domestic violence training courses, I was able to begin working in the shelters where I did in-takes for new women and children coming into shelter and spent considerable time organizing supply rooms and preparing packets for new clients. I was in charge of resolving any problems and reporting any large issues or safety concerns immediately. I learned various protocols and had to keep extremely detailed notes on each client and events of the shift. I had to build trust and relationships with clients in shelter while enforcing strict rules, and was responsible for the safety of the clients during my shifts. I also partnered with the social workers to develop meal plans, make resumes, discover job opportunities, and help the clients transition in and out of shelter as smoothly and quickly as possible.   While working for Neffsville Christian Nursery School I taught the 2 1/2-3 year old class, as well as the 4 and 5 year old Physical Education classes. This job was part-time while I nannied for a family with 3 children under the age of 7. During my time at the school I created lesson plans and art projects, and designed games and activities that would develop their motor skills and challenge the students both mentally and physically.

Much of my first year consisted of attending events and doing activities that would be my responsibility to plan and manage in the future. During my 11 months as Director of Alumni, I was mainly responsible for managing and building relationships with LBC | Capital Alumni and current students; this looked different day-to-day but kept my schedule full as LBC | Capital is currently in 4 locations in 3 states. I was also in charge of planning and executing logistics for our annual Homecoming event, which brought more than 500 alumni and guests to campus, as well as plan and host class reunions and other alumni events through the year. I was also a member of the Commencement Ceremony committee, as it was my duty to plan and execute the ‘Alumni Induction’ event – celebrating our graduates and presenting them with awards and a charge to their future.
