      Mitacs accelerate intern

      ● Co-wrote and granted a Mitacs Accelerate grant application (IT30743) with an overall value of 60k CAD for 4 months titled “Integration of Microfluidics, Raman Spectroscopy and Electric Sensing for the Detection of Microplastics”. This project was done collaboratively between Mitacs, Ocean Diagnostics Inc., and Prof. Pouya Rezai’s lab at York University. ● Studied the microplastic detection and identification methods with a focus on optical spectroscopy and electrical detection methods. ● Developed a micro-electro-fluidic sensor for the enrichment and detection of microplastics in the aquatic environment in collaboration with Ocean Diagnostics Inc. ● Developed an acoustofluidic particle focusing technique for single-line focusing of microplastics in a microchannel to align them with the Raman Spectroscopy excitation light. This maximizes the scattering effect for high-sensitivity detection. Show less
