It was one of the top requirements for the joint project.The twelve month trial with HI was so successful that HI continues to work with the Hope Disability Centre today. Show less

While working as a tree scout, I also taught NonViolent Communication classes to Portland area activists, and worked with a team to invent Community Supported Everything, an innovative, effective, and inexpensive way to seek input, listen, and support community members from a broad range of cultures. Also converted the outside space of Ted Buehler's property from construction debris to a beautiful outdoor seating space with productive gardens. Show less

Coordinate and supervise the kitchen team. Create meals from the food gifts brought by the course attendees every day, customized for all dietary restrictions. In two weeks, all meals and snacks were served on time and people loved them. Show less

Design and distribute a gardening guide to retailers based on the information. Interview local farms and gardeners on their use of pesticides. Train 30 retail staff in nontoxic alternatives, organize, promote, and give public talks on alternatives to toxic pesticides. Network with eight community groups. With King County funding, create promotional and education materials for sharing with the public, retail staff, and managers on the dangers of and alternatives to toxic pesticides. Write and present reports to King County and the Vashon community. Result: Vashon retailers are removing many of the most toxic pesticides from their shelves and replacing them with nontoxic alternatives. Show less
