  The Ministry of Commerce was established in 1968-1998 led by Prof. Dr. Sumitro Djojobadikusumo. Before being named the Ministry of Commerce, this intuition was called the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In 1998 until now the Ministry of Industry and Trade was led by Prof. Dr. Sumitro Djojobadikusumo.Through the 1999 general election, the national leadership changed from Bj. Habibie to the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdurahman Wahid. In this era a National Unity cabinet was formed, with the Ministry of Industry and Trade held by Drs.H.Jusuf Kalla and later by Luhut Binsar Panjaitan in 2000. However, since 2004, there has been a separation of duties and authorities in both and stand alone under the relevant ministries . Since then, the term Department has been replaced by the Ministry of Commerce that has been used until now. Show less
