      Launchpad orientation coordinator

I worked with the Mayooth Access Office to plan and run an online orientation program for new students attending Maynooth University. I worked with my team of 100 Ambassadors to rethink and develop a program that could be run online, and still achieve the goals of the program. I learned new skills while in the role, such as using many of the Microsoft Office applications as well as using different google applications too, such as google documents and google slides. I also designed posters and graphics for use on social media, using tools such as canva. I also used the opportunities that an online orientation would provide by learning new skills, such as how to edit, record and publicise a podcast for students, run by students. This extra work was well received by my peers and by the new students, and continuous feedback helped it improve even more over the months. As Coordinator, a lot of important decisions fell to me, including budget and timetable decisions. From my past leadership experience, I made sure I had all information possible at the time and spoke to my team before making a call that would affect them. After the orientation week ended, I continued in my role as coordinator and planned out weekly events so that students could meet in an comfortable online environment. My aim for these weekly events was to ensure students could share any issues they were having and get solutions for them, to make friends in a year where socialising was difficult and provide insight on how best the Access Office could support them during the year. These sessions were again well received and continued after my departure. Show less
