      - In August of 2009 I was awarded a letter of commendation from the Governor General of Alberta for saving a citizen's life while on duty.- Professionalism and customer service: Having a clean and presentable uniform was vital. Being friendly and informative to the public. I doubled the efficiency of my patrols by being informed of the by-laws and observant of all violations. I would write up to 90 violation tickets in an 8-hour patrol.- Education and awareness: The mission statement for my duties was to enforce the parking bylaws of the city of Calgary through education. If a member of the public was in violation if they were there to be explained why they were in violation a ticket had no reason to be issued. The fines were a way to educate the value of safe and courteous parking in Calgary.- Conflict management and fairness: No one likes getting fined. It was important to not escalate a situation if a person got fined either by myself or a co-worker. Making sure everyone knew they had the opportunity to have a day in court for every fine was important so everyone had a fair chance before a justice.- Effective communication: I worked as a dispatcher from October 2010 to October 2011. I dispatched up to 500 complaint calls in a 12-hour shift every day.- Building rapport with the public: Being in a uniform is a responsibility to represent both the city and the parking enforcement. Having a rapport with property owners who frequently called was important so they knew their concerns were valid and if I could or couldn't enforce as they needed. Show less

      - Team collaboration: In a high-speed environment to maintain safety and health, it was important to help those on your left and right with objects that were above safe lifting capacity. - Effective communication: If anyone was struggling or needed assistance, the importance of knowing when to ask for help, or when to offer it was vital to successfully loading the daily logistic deliveries.- Safety advocacy: I maintained my first aid certification throughout my employment as the safety agent in case of injury in my area.- Time management: Each truck needed to be loaded with up to 300 stops a day within a 4-hour load time. I had 3 trucks under my responsibility daily.- Problem-solving: Each day the type of packages needing to be loaded changes how the truck's layout may present. It was vital to maintain consistency for the driver to be effective and efficient in their trip. Each day presented a new opportunity to rethink how things were arranged so they both fit and kept to the scheduled order. Show less

      - Representing a non-profit: I acquired on average 20 long-term donors weekly for monthly donations to child charities like World Vision and Plan International.- Handling rejections gracefully: Working door to door I would interact with approximately 65 households a day. You have to maintain a healthy ability to take rejection and not let it affect your next conversation.- Listening and understanding needs: There are many reasons for someone to want to help, and just as many for them to want to consider why not to. Listening to people's reasons not to can give insight into why and how they can effectively help charities.- Building rapport: Needing to speak to as many people as you can in a day requires quick rapport, having them become long-term donors was a sign of the quality of the rapport. 20 donors a week that donated for longer than 6 months was a good average to maintain.- Donor cultivation: This was a cold call system, not everyone knew what the charities I represented acted on to assist others. Being well-informed and friendly allowed for confidence in where the donations would be going and the quality of their efforts.- Event planning: I assisted in the planning and presentations for Marco Robinson and Colin George where they offered life advice to crowds from 50 to 200 individuals.- Public speaking: I had opportunities to speak in presentations about my donor acquisition successes and train other representatives. - Acquired customers for lifelong coverage: Sold approx. 3 policies a week for life and accident coverage for a full life term. Protecting families from the stresses of afterlife care costs.- Tailoring coverage to individual needs: Being able to adjust the policies to cover the needs of each client. I made effective coverage happen for only the price of a single hour of their work week in cost. - Education and transparency: Each client was my priority in every conversation. How whole life differed from term or universal was distinctly important. Also how life choices can have financial impacts on the family thus also causing adjustments to how coverage can most benefit them.- Handling objections and concerns: Met with existing clients weekly making sure they were comfortable with their coverage and if any life choices that had been made might require changes to their policy so it would better reflect their current selves. - Networking and community engagement: Worked completely off a referral system through Unions friends and family. Keeping positive contact with clients and their communities offered more referrals and positive reception.- Crisis management and sensitivity: People lose loved ones and as the agent who sold the policy you get called to make sure their coverage is paid while having the compassion to do it without making it complicated.- Reputation management: I was the company representative in every interaction with a potential or existing client. Newer representatives would have me accompany them with clients that expressed a displeasing experience with our programs. I saved 4 policies from being reconsidered thanks to helping my fellow agents reassure the client on the companies value. Show less

      - Communication and conflict resolution: Excellent communication skills in diffusing potential conflicts, addressing concerns, and providing clear instructions during emergencies. - Public interaction and assistance: Assisted with the access control of over 600 employees daily and the access of 400 trucks inbound and outbound with millions of dollars in product.- Building trust and rapport: This was the frontline first interaction anyone had when coming to the property. It was important to always show Walmart as professional as possible on the logistics end.- Media interactions: When addressed by anyone from mainstream or alternate media, YouTubers, or podcasters, I was able to maintain the integrity of the property and the privacy of the employees there.- Safety education: It was important to ensure that everyone on site was properly educated on the safety regulations and followed them for everyone's well-being. Through proper communication of the safety policies my team and I kept the injury rate down so no days of work were lost for a record of 285 consecutive days. Show less
