I am in the process of building a center for the Study of Natural and Cultural Heritage at the German Jordanian University. The Center is envisioned to be a key in linking between the academic capabilities available at GJU with various stakeholders who would benefit from this expertise in the form of consultations, research or training. I hold a joint appointment between the Department of Water and Environmental Engineering and Management and the Department of Architecture. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses such as geology and hydrology and graduate courses such as sustainable planning. The CTC is the training and extension arm of the German Jordanian University. In that capacity, it seeks to market the expertise and skills of the GJU faculty and staff to local industries, firms, organizations and individuals. With this in mind, the CTC collaborates with the private sector to market and deliver training courses that are unique and relevant. I was responsible for both overseeing the research efforts funded by the university as well as supporting and managing the externally funded research projects from outside the university. I oversaw the design and implementation of groundbreaking and innovative regulations for the university at the time.
