  Foundations Asheville is a young adult transition program in the mountains of North Carolina. We served young men seeking to further their education and create a rewarding future. A team of caring professionals offered academic support, addressed clinical needs, and empowered the students to become independent adults. I worked with Foundations as a Personal Development Mentor. My job duties were to ensure physical and emotional safety for each student; implement and facilitate the structure of the program; observe and communicate with the treatment team; deliver therapeutic outcomes; foster strengths in the students, and intervene in self-defeating thoughts & behaviors through risk-management strategies. From carefully selecting skilled field guides to spearheading impactful training initiatives, my work aimed to strengthen and enrich the broader wilderness guide community. Leading my director team extended beyond simple management; it was about fostering a collaborative ecosystem that amplified our community impact and drove meaningful cultural transformation.Balancing staffing needs and resource allocation, I navigated the demands of the program with a focus on sustainability. Financial stewardship was central to my role. I managed the annual budget with care, incorporating staff insights and securing board endorsement. Overseeing all administrative operations, from basecamp facilities to technology resources — ensured seamless functionality across our organization.Collaboratively crafting foundational elements like mission and vision statements allowed us to align our identity closely with our core values. My interpersonal skills were key to building relationships and nurturing shared purpose among diverse groups. Facilitating various group processes, from emotionally supportive family councils to constructive staff feedback sessions, was essential in fostering growth-oriented relationships.When confronting crises and conflicts, I viewed adversity as a path to deeper understanding among allies.
