  • Responsible for Engine room management, make sure the E/R is properly manned.• During watchkeeping, oversee the operations and maintenance of E/R machineries, make sure they are in state of readiness at all time and make sure proper PMS (Plan Maintenance System) is carried out on all machineries.• I make sure that before any job is carried out, a toolbox talk (TBT) and job safety analysis (JSA) is conducted with the engine room crew daily and other parties involved.• Oversees the safety of the Engine room and ship, safe operation of machineries, Life Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire Fighting Appliances (FFA).• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of Pollution Prevention Equipment’s and Machineries (OWS, Bilge Pump, Sewage System, Bunkering operations E.T.C).• Carried out weekly maintenance and checks on emergencies and life saving equipment’s (FRC engines, Lifeboat engines, Emergency generator, Emergency fire pumps, water tight doors E.T.C).• Handles the daily updates of E/R documents, Inventories of spares and critical equipment’s and training and orientation of E/R crew members.
