Bechtel Corporation is a multinational engineering, procurement, construction, and project management company with several subsidiary companies for international operations.I was responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the Field Welding Programme in addition to overseeing welding teams and subcontractors through technical plans in the programme.Notable Achievements• Spearheaded the Welding Department and successfully integrated 14 welding inspectors, eight local welding inspectors, and four expat inspectors into a culturally diverse team in line with group values and objectives.• Successfully maintained the group’s welding programme, resulting in a 1.7 repair rate across 200,000 diameter inches.• Continued to co-coordinate the NDE subcontract to schedule, plan, and collaborate with the construction and subcontractor teams to achieve schedule outcomes with minimal costs and production impacts.• Implemented the group’s HDPE programme and successfully resolved the HDPE Suppliers Quality Programme; defective HDPE; and introduced the quality concepts and HDPE Quality Programme and equipment to the WMD main contractor’s team.• Led the WPS Development and Testing Programme and associated projects as a Certified NDE Level II (RT, VT, PT, MT). This involved engaging the Cairo University and establishing a testing regime to conclude the onshore, offshore, pipeline, and Raven Giza sites.• Managed and maintained MDR Quality Assurance and Compliance (QA and QC) documentation for the successful client handover. Show less Notable Achievements• Managed and maintained the Welding Programme spanning all welding operations whilst establishing governance and oversight frameworks to maintain welding documentation to ensure and meet the programme’s compliance requirements.• Advised and supported Field Superintendents to shape leadership, supervision, direction, and wider support strategies for Field Welding Engineers in Trains I and II with handover documentation.• Delivered expert welding engineering support to all teams to ensure compliance with construction codes and internal procedures. • Co-coordinated the NDE subcontract to schedule and manage the construction and subcontractor workforce and relationships. This included managing the weld inspection tracking system using TeamWorks and WITS applications. Show less Notable Achievements• Facilitated package scoping, schedule development, and workforce updates by engaging subcontractors, internal Field Engineering Teams and Supervisors as well as Executive Project Managers.• Collaborated with the Punch List Coordinator to track punch lists and inspection records. This included co-establishing Field Change Requests and Change Orders whilst advising on construction progress meetings.• Collaborated with Engineers on constructability and design disputes across the welding discipline to ensure compliance with welding code requirements and specified welding criteria for subcontractors both on- and off-site.• Advanced the safe welding working relationship and lines of communication with Project Engineers, by achieving agreements for welding engineering deliverables and construction application and configuration management.• Delivered the subcontractor requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment in addition to welding consumables.• Developed and delivered recommendations for welding processes and procedures, subsequently implemented by Field Supervisors, by operating construction activities as per engineering design and specification requirements.• Successfully implemented new variables controls previously impacting welding installation progress across weld consumables, documentation, and welder certifications both on- and off-site.• Appointed as a Representative for the group’s interest concerning the welding discipline throughout major contractual negotiations.• Managed and monitored the quality of coating, insulation, and fireproofing works in addition to coating rework releases for completion and reported installed quantities.• Coordinated the AUS and NZS-site specification revisions and further quantified and procured insulated material.• Collaborated with the Mechanical and Piping Field Engineers to identify upcoming releases for coatings operations. Show less Notable Achievements• Appointed PFE and Lead Welding Engineer to deliver strategic insights and advice to the Manager and authorised all inspection and testing documentation for radiography and hydro-testing with associated certification documentation packages.• Executed reviews on all approved WPSs, quality procedures, and associated PQRs for piping, mechanical, and tanks. This included delivering recommendations on approved quality plans, procedures, and method statements submitted by contractors.• Coordinated hydrostatic tests, torque, and survey activities in addition to facilitating reviews across NDE packages, piping system walk downs, punch listing, and turnover clearance and acceptance of mechanical completions.• Facilitated internal and external audits, including internal and on-site contractor audits to ensure compliance with Quality standards. This included maintaining external Contractors Quality System compliance for all site procedures.• Successfully classified Plant and MDR formations by delivering plant registration evidence to WorkSafe spanning design approvals from a statutory authority and valid pressure test certificates.• Developed and delivered major alteration recommendations and procedures for execution. This included sequencing events for repairs and modifications for hydrostatic testing, heat treatment, and preheat functions.• Developed and delivered quality documentation for subcontractor quality and off-site inspections with minimum disruptions. This included maintaining M&TE applications for subcontractors in line with project and compliance specifications. Show less
