  Cities for a Healthier Sea project was launched to promote the Baltic Sea Challenge campaign, initiated in Finland in 2007, in the Baltic Sea countries. The objective of the project was to improve the state of the coastal waters and the entire Baltic Sea by encouraging municipalities and cities to carry out water protection measures on a voluntary basis.My responsibilities as a project expert was i.a execution of work packages, updating web pages, and producing written material e.g. Handbook for Voluntary Baltic Sea Protection in Cities and Municipalities. MUTKU i.a. admits scholarships yearly bases, organizes seminars, excursions and lectures to all actors working in the field. MUTKU has over 200 members in both private and public sectors and is actively collaborating with environmental authorities e.g by giving statements.My role as a secretary and financial manager is handling membership register, communication with the board and the members, event planning and handling and overseeing the financial responsibilities. I handled deviation requests, camp site and noise announcements, I did supervision and prepared different official statements e.g for the wind mill construction permits and waste water treatment handling. I was also working as the secretary of the Environmental Committee of Suupohja region.   I worked as an environmental inspector in the department of environment protection. I was responsible for waste management issues, e.g preparing and monitoring environmental permits and official inspections of authorized environmental facilities. I was in tight collaboration between nearby municipalities and Kolmenkierto Regional Committee for Waste Management. I was also working as a project manager for city of Hyvinkää Environmental Forum. The goal of the Forum was to create a platform between municipality, companies and citizens. Focus was to increase environmental awareness and promote Hyvinkää nature and sustainability services.
