  CIC Piloting officer — I supervised the radar navigation team to ensure accurate and prompt fixing of the ship’s position by using all electronic means available. I advised the bridge of the ship’s position, recommended courses and times to turn, position of geographic and navigational objects in the vicinity of the ship, and any potential navigational hazards. I recommended alternate tracks, if available, to the navigator and Conn when the primary track is blocked or made hazardous by the presence of shipping or other contacts. I coordinated collision avoidance with the CIC Shipping Officer while maintaining navigational awareness and continuous communication with the Bridge Navigation Team. I served as the Piloting officer during UNITAS South America/Africa deployment (Jan01-Jul01) and also Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment (Jan03-Jun03).Primary Chart Petty Officer- Maintained and Corrected over 25,000 navigational charts for CIC, meticulously prepared all charts for Sea and Anchor details resulting in zero mishaps during the 4 year tour.Other duties included operating the AN/SPA-G Radar Console, the Dead Reckoning Tracer, and maintained communications over secure lines with other ships in battle group. Created over 300 pieces of Legal correspondence to include command action letters, indebtedness letters and Freedom of Information Act requests. Provided confidential support for restricted legal matters per Privacy Act information. Formatted documents per base Commanding Officer directives. . Was in charge of tracking and quality assurance of all records of trail. Meticulously assembled, processed and delivered 95 records of trial and 35 Article 32 investigations for numerous commands. Provided guidance, supervision and training for newly reporting personnel in the correct operation of the record of trial assembly desk. Revised a case tracker report containing more than 250 cases covering a period of 5 years. Resulted in 81 cases already closed and listed erroneously. Show less

  Assigned to the Public Affairs Office as a section leader for Naval Station Norfolk Tourist Center. Duties included training programs, tour certifications, process management, customer service, opening and closing, security, and maintaining timely and logistical departures of all guided tours. Operated a $30 Million dollar landing craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) vehicle's radar, navigation, and communications equipment in support of amphibious assault and training operations. Provided tactical recommendations to the LCAC Craftmaster based on current amphibious assault tactics, navigation, International and Inland rules of the road, and radio and visual communications procedures.
