  This was my first job and it created a good foundation for my career. As a Junior Credit Analyst, my role involved the assessment of commercial credit applications, ensuring that all documents provided by customers were in order. I submitted completed credit applications to credit analysts for review before submitting the credit paper to the credit committee. I was also involved in conducting annual reviews in order to check if customers adhered to their covenant agreements. By the time I left Century bank, I was able to independently assess credit applications, without having them reviewed by Credit Analysts. I was also able to assist the Regional Credit Manager to train newly recruited Credit Analysts on the bank’s processes and procedures. Show less

  My job function involved following up on accounts by telephone and email correspondence in order to secure satisfactory resolution to the repayment problem. This also included discussing possible financial arrangements, informing clients of potential legal actions, and suggesting financial counseling with the aim of arriving at suitable payment arrangements. One of my biggest accomplishments in this role was being able to implement a credit policy. I was also involved in the implementation of a new accounting system (Sage Evolution from Pastel Partner) which improved the time it took for statements generation and invoice creation. This improved cash flow and cut costs by 20%. Using Sage and Microsoft excel, I designed a report to identify and improve low-performing portfolios. This great initiative I took, increased average client revenue by 19% and maintained standard costs within 1% deviation year over year.   As a Credit Analyst, I had 2 Credit Controllers reporting to me. One of my achievements was being able to design a credit policy that was approved by the board with no amendments. I managed an advertising agency debtors book of R40 million. I also ensured that all credit applications I assessed and approved were credit worthy such that there were no bad debts written off during my tenure. That helped the company achieve profits after they had recorded losses for 2 consecutive years.
