    • U.s. coast guard

      Jul 1984 - Jun 1989
      Avionics technician

Joined the USCG to follow my passion for the sea. As a sailor I wanted a career where I could serve the sea-going community. I spent over a year onboard a 210 ft cutter and then went to Avionics School for 7 months. I was stationed in Astoria OR, on one of the most dangerous locations, the Columbia River Bar. I flew as crew on H-3 helicopters and the Falcon fanjets doing search and rescue. I loved my job, the mission changed to the "war on drugs" and the mission for SAR started to play a lesser role. Think tank member

Redding has been plagued with property crimes, severe drug problems, no jail space, reduction of police force. A brave business owner decided to do something about it and formed a top-notch think tank to tackle these issues and bring 11 solutions to the city, county and its leadership. I was a key member of the research team who decided which issues and solutions would be presented. It culminated with a well-attended night at the Civic Auditorium and received a standing ovation. Many of our solutions were validated by a six-figure consulting report on public safety and some of our solutions were implemented over the years since. Show less

We have no term that quite carries this notion of kind and good. For us its about creating apps that are built from a heart to do good as well as be good for users. Our desire is for our apps to improve the lives of the people using them. Show less
