      As Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Manager at the General Optical Council (GOC), I work as an internal consultant and EDI leader, a resilient influencer and driver of change. I work with a supportive team working collaboratively with others to deliver our EDI Plan. Working with senior leaders to create a vision for EDI from the top. Engaging with stakeholders to bring that vision to life in collaboration with communication and marketing teams. I lead the support to our employee networks to build their capacity, engage colleagues, increase membership and widen strategic impact. Supporting colleagues to move beyond awkwardness and fear. Working to build psychological safety in the workplace. We tackle deep-rooted bias, stereotypes, and work to better understand how society and the workplace are interlinked. As well as collecting and analysing data to support EDI strategy and being data-driven in our actions. I help build colleagues’ confidence and competence in relation to EDI and support the GOC to follow best practice as an employer and regulator.Alongside this, I am the co-chair of the influential NHS England Professional Standards Working Group for EDI, a collaborative collective where healthcare performers look to improve EDI for patients across the country.       Investors In Diversity National Centre for Diversity Dec 2017 In May 2016 I was tasked to lead on a 71 point action place over 4 campus in order to improve our equality, diversity and inclusion practices to meet the high standards of the National Centre for Diversity, which we did in December 2017. In fact, due to our outstanding practices the Grimsby Institute Group was made it into the National Centre for DIversity's Top 100 organisation in the UK, joining at number 34.
