      Uncompressible flows instabilities: transient growth and direct numerical simulations over isolated roughness.Research Internship at the DynFluid Laboratory (Arts et Métiers ParisTech). The purpose of the activity was to feature the transition to turbulence induced by a cylindrical roughness immersed in an incompressible boundary layer, along a flat plate. This task has been achieved by means of Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS), in association with fully-3D Global and Local Stability Theories. Furthermore, the effect of different values of the cylindrical roughness aspect ratio (h/d) and Reynolds numbers (Re) on the instability "modes" were evaluated. This internship has been realized in collaboration with the Institute of Aerodynamics and Gas Dynamics of the Stuttgart University, where experimental tests were performed in this respect, showing good agreement with the numerical results.Tools: Nek5000, Matlab Weniger anzeigen
