      This study was undertaken as part of a corporate initiative which I introduced at Torridge District Council aimed at improving management skills. For me there were two gains: clearly the study itself and also a demonstration of leading by example

      I undertook increasingly more responsible roles, often providing day to day HR support to site managers including engineering laboratories, power stations, quarries and building material factories.

      Responsible for all HR matters plus communications at 'district wide' NHS Trust which included an Acute Hospital, Community Hospitals and Mental Health Services.Also led on PR matters and internal communications at a time of strong local resistance to the establishment of a 'first wave' NHS trust.

      Responsible for all aspects of people management to a complex 'teaching' hospital that employed over 6,500 people. Resolved difficult employee relations issues and also dealt with serious performance issues amongst clinical staff and organisational failings in respect of waiting list management.

      Responsible for all aspects of people management. Led on agenda for change, the implementation of EHR and project managed the construction of a new £2m education facility. Also addressed major organisational relating to leadership and the management of waiting lists.

      Responsible for all aspects of people management. Contributed to major improvements in performance which included a reduction in the workforce of upwards of 33% without significant redundancies.Led on implementation of single status, the implementation of new employment policies and IiP accreditation. Other attainments included a 50% reduction (on-going) in sickness absence. For 12 months I also provided HR support for North Devon Council.
