Show less After graduating with a Master’s degree in Marine Navigation from a Naval Academy, I was offered a position with the Japanese company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Line). I joined their team as a Deck Cadet, and after completing 12 months of sea service, I was promoted to 3rd Officer.In this role, I managed the single navigational watch from 08:00-12:00 and 20:00-24:00 hours, ensuring all Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire-Fighting Appliances (FFA) were maintained in a state of readiness. My responsibilities included daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of LSA and FFA, as well as organizing and planning spare parts and orders. Additionally, I oversaw the shoreside services for the 5 and 10-year maintenance of various equipment.During my tenure as a 3rd Officer, I was assigned to join a New-Build Team in Japan for the delivery of the latest car carrier, “Canadian Highway,” in 2010. I was in charge of overseeing various projects and reporting directly to the Chief Officer. I also completed the inventory of the LSA, FFA, and their spare parts. Following this, I was promoted to 2nd Officer.As a 2nd Officer, I managed the single navigational watch from 12:00-16:00 and 24:00-04:00 hours. I assisted the Captain in preparing navigational routes and ensuring the vessel's safe passage during worldwide navigation.
