  After completing Waziyatah's CIT program in 2018, where I learned important leadership, communication, and team building skills, I went on to work as a junior counselor, helping lead counselors manage the cabin environment, plan events and bonding nights for campers, and mitigate conflicts between campers.

  As lead counselor in cabin, I was in charge of managing my camper's schedules, mediating conflict within and outside of the cabin, planning events and camping trips, hosting camp wide events. In addition to the responsibilities of my cabin, I served as Division 2nd, working under the Division Head of the teen girls division to manage conflict between staff members as well as campers, assist in overseeing COVID safety protocols, weigh in on decisions regarding camper disciplinary action, plan events to foster community, and worked with other Senior Staff members to ensure a healthy, safe, and fun camp environment.
