The airport was in the midst of expansion plans including; the review of the airport master plan, expansion of sewer and water services to existing and new industrial lots, new airside ramps, new and improved road access, new terminal location, new street access, expanded private hanger facilities and extension of the main runway to facilitate larger aircraft.   Contract position for plans examiner of Large and Complex Buildings as well as field inspection of Part 3 large building construction, regulated under the Ontario Building Code (OBC). Duties also include inspection of construction projects at the Peterborough Airport, located outside the City limits. Airports are federally regulated and construction must meet the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) standards.

  New OBOA "House" course Subject Matter Expert

  The International Code Council (ICC) Chicago office was contracted by the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) to develop some of the new OBOA Training courses for the new Ontario Building Code effective Jan. 2014. I was chosen as the Subject Matter Expert to work with the ICC design team developing the new "House" course. The course covers residential housing, single detached, semi-detached, townhouse, duplex, stacked semi-detached and stacked townhouse building forms. In early January 2014, I presented the pilot course to a group of experienced Building Officials who deliver OBOA courses in their area of the Province. Final course editing from pilot course feedback was completed and the first version of the new House course was delivered in Toronto Feb. 3-7, 2014. The course is available throughout Ontario.   Develop New National Building Code 2010, "Small Buildings" Course

  Contract position to develop a new National Building Code (NBC) 2010 training course on Small Buildings. The course focusses on Part 9 buildings, excluding content related to Houses, which will be covered in another course. This OBOA course is for licensed release to the Alliance of Canadian Building Officials Associations (ACBOA) which will market new training through the various Provincial Building Officials Associations across Canada. Work included preparation of the Instructor Manual and Participant Manual. In addition, PowerPoint presentations for the introduction, chapters 1-10 and homework exercises for all 10 chapters were prepared. Hopefully students and course instructors across Canada find this course material helpful in learning Part 9 requirements in the NBC 2010. Show less

The course focusses on Part 9 residential housing, excluding other Part 9 Small Buildings which are covered in another course. This OBOA course is for licensed release to the Alliance of Canadian Building Officials Associations (ACBOA) which will market new training through the various Provincial Building Officials Associations across Canada. Work includes preparation of the Instructor Manual and Participant Manual.
