  Different types of bioactive components (viz. Selenium, Flavonoids, Phenols etc.) present in vegetables and fruits can inhibit cancer and different diseases by blocking metabolic activities through detoxification. Moreover, some plant products induce different types of diseases. Therefore, the present study was aimed to investigate the beneficial effect of the aqueous extract of pomegranate against betel nut induced toxicity on in vivo normal mouse model considering mouse survivability, bone marrow and germ cell toxicity and some hematological profiles as parameters. Results of these studies particularly in the betel nut + pomegranate treated series showed significant inhibition of abnormal cell population (somatic as well as germinal) and elevation of life span of the host with less toxic side effects. Moreover, hematological studies in respect to hemoglobin level, RBC count did not show any remarkable abnormality during the course of combination treatment. So, it is evident from the study conducted by us that, pomegranate shows significant protective effect on betel nut treated in vivo mouse model system. Show less
