      I am involved in a research project studying the genetic architecture of exercise training to identify critical genetic loci that regulate molecular adaptations conferring the metabolic health benefits of daily activity. The project entails that we exercise train 100 unique strains of inbred mice and harvest tissues following 30 days of volitional wheel running. I assist the project leader, Mr. Tim Moore (doctoral candidate), in all aspects of the investigation including animal handling, processing of mouse tissues, and data collection and reduction. As a research assistant, I have learned how to dissect and homogenize metabolic tissues so that I can perform DNA, RNA, protein, and metabolite analyses. Show less

Show less UAEM is an international student driven organization that seeks to improve access to and affordability of life-saving medicines researched and developed at universities.UCLA is a public research university, meaning that its funding comes from tax dollars: all used to conduct research to develop innovative medicines and treatments. The creation of these medications have been paid for by the public, yet are priced at exorbitantly high rates, making them inaccessible to the very people who were taxed to create them.Our mission as as chapter is to highlight these inequities and injustices within our very own UCLA community and beyond in order to increase awareness among UCLA students, faculty, and staff. Ultimately, we hope to create tangible change regarding drug pricing of innovations developed at UCLA. • Founded the UCLA UAEM Chapter• Spearheaded the planning of the UAEM 2019 North American Conference at UCLA's campus, that took place from October 11th-13th, 2019 with over 150 attendees worldwide.• In our first year, our UCLA UAEM chapter broke #GivingTuesday records, with over 100 unique donations.
