      Jan 2009 - Aug 2010
Scientific officer – “habitat ecologist- bushland recovery”

In this role I worked as part of a skilled, multidisciplinary team to deliver the Threatened Species and Habitat Recovery program funded through Caring for our Country, reporting to the Australian Government. My role, as Habitat Ecologist- Bushland Recovery, entailed a specific on-ground ecology component, flora and fauna surveys, community engagement and education. It included the preparation, writing and implementation of Regional Action Plans, Weed Action Plans and recovery actions for 10 species of threatened flora and fauna and 2 ecological communities. Core responsibilities included engaging, advising and overseeing landholder projects in ecologically beneficial clearance offsets, ecological land management practice design and implementation including ecological burning, compliance with environmental laws (i.e. EPBC Act 1999) and relationship building with land and stakeholders to bolster and increase the positive outcomes of the project.I also received additional training and qualifications through the role, including Bush Fire Fighting through which I became an A-rated fire fighter in SA, Defensive Driving, Four-Wheel Driving and Chemcert, which enabled me to purchase and deploy level 7 chemicals for specific on-ground projects such as rabbit and fox control in ecologically sensitive locations. Partnerships for better natural resources management officer

As a member of the Strategic Communications and Partnerships team, I managed the pilot “Partnerships for Better NRM” project, as well as the Annual Review of the Board’s Business Plan and the design/printing and dissemination of the Regional NRM Plan. As these three projects were separate in their delivery, I have outlined them separately below. The Partnerships for Better NRM project had the following 5 components:1. Partnerships- through which I engaged with new and existing partners to ensure best practice management of the region’s natural resources;2. Proactive Funding- whereby I was required to proactively seek funding opportunities for the region’s priority projects;3. Research- for which I was required to ensure the region’s research priorities were recorded and addressed by all natural resources managers through working collaboratively with other agencies, departments and groups;4. Sponsorship- for which I held a small budget to provide sponsorship to community NRM related projects or activities; and5. Strategic Influence- which required I ensured the region’s voice was heard at both State and Federal level e.g. South Australian State Strategic Plan.Annual Review of the Board’s Business Plan:As part of the Strategic Communications and Partnerships team I helped develop the NRM Board’s Business Plan for 2011-12 for adoption by the Minister for Environment and Conservation, including extensive community and stakeholder consultation. This work was completed in line with the Natural Resources Management Act 2004.Design and Printing of the Regional NRM Plan:I was required to finalise the Regional NRM Plan for printing and dissemination, including editing and scientific referencing (Harvard system), developing the design and layout in consultation with a graphic designer, ordering printing, organising promotion and dissemination of the Plan through an official launch with the head of DENR and the General Manager of the Board. • Parkes shire council

      Jun 2014 - Jan 2020
      Environmental specialist

The Environmental Factor were on board working closely with Parkes Shire Council through the Parkes Water Supply Scheme and Sewage Treatment System upgrade projects since completion of the concept design phase in mid-2014. TEF provided environmental guidance regarding approvals, agency liaison and licenses, community engagement, design development and site investigation. TEF integrated into the project management team at Parkes in order to drive the environmental aspects of Council’s projects from within, to see each aspect move efficiently through to approval and sign-off. As an external part of the Project Management Office, TEF helped ensure Council’s goals for Ecologically Sustainable Development were at the forefront for these significant infrastructure upgrade projects, through ensuring best practice environmental investigation, management and appropriate protection measures were considered – both as a vital part of the planning process, and consequently implemented by Council’s appointed contractors. In the first three years, TEF produced five Major Works Reviews of Environmental Factors for the project, and several addenda, two of which were released for public exhibition in early 2015 as part of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement process. TEF helped run several workshops, both with community and agency stakeholders as part of project development, and assisted Council with secondary approvals and licencing. http://www.envirofact.com.au/parkes-water-treatment-plant/In 2017/18 TEF completed the REF process for the Parkes Recycled Water Scheme Phase 2 works, and remained on board with PSC in an advisory role on Council's Expert Panel throughout the construction phase, to provide Environmental Management Support Services (EMSS). TEF has been closely involved in Parkes's endeavour to achieve a high sustainability rating through the Infrastructure Sustainably Council of Australia (ISCA) in the categories of Ecology, Heritage and Innovation.
