      Jan 2011 - Jan 2013
      Clerical assistant

I originally started out undertaking work experience, but due to my professionalism, ability to prioritise tasks and meticulous attention to detail I was offered a part time job. My main duty was to assist in the transfer of confidential documents to an in house system, which required thorough and accurate measures to ensure the documents were assigned to the correct client. Here I processed large volumes of data on a daily basis. Within this role I had to follow the Data Protection Act of which I fully understand, along with the necessity for client confidentiality. This was a demanding role which required me to be thorough and accurate at all times, whilst working closely with other members of the team. Show less

    • Liberty living plc

      Sept 2013 - May 2014
      Bar staff

Throughout this role I learnt the basic skills of bartending. During a typical shift I would singlehandedly open and lock up the bar, reflecting the responsibilities I can take on as well as my trustworthiness. I would also work alone at the bar allowing my communication skills to grow. When handling the money at the end of the night, I would return it to the safe and quantify the amount made.

    • Argos

      Oct 2013 - Dec 2013
      Sales assistant

Throughout this role I was trained on collection, picking, shop floor and the operation of the tills. My position varied from shift to shift so I could gain a full understanding of each area. Throughout I learnt to engage with various kinds of customers, and always did my best to understand what they were looking for and aim to provide this service. I worked at Argos over Christmas, travelling from Manchester to work in Leeds. Here, time keeping was essential. Likewise, I was also working two jobs, both to the best of my ability whilst completing my degree, showing I can successfully multi-task, and prioritise tasks. Show less

      Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
      Customer advisor

Within this role I was the first point of contact for customers calling the Council, encouraging me to engage and handle any complaints professionally. The office was based in a call centre so time management was key to ensure calls were answered efficiently whilst still delivering the relevant information, and maintaining a high level of customer service. Speed and accuracy was an essential element of this role.

    • Oxfam

      Jan 2015 - Aug 2015
      Festival events intern

One of the UK’s largest charities assisting in the eradication of poverty. The festivals team focuses on fundraising through pop up charity shops, whereby donated clothing are sorted and targeted towards certain festivals. I attended six festivals with the team as well as visiting the warehouse twice a week. At the warehouse some of my duties included: creating mood boards for each festival to ensure the demographic matched the stock, contributing new and effective ways for the shops' success and providing feedback for future events and helping to prepare and manage stock levels for upcoming events. During Kendal Calling, one of the events, I was a team leader whereby I managed my own team of volunteers throughout various shift patterns. Likewise at this festival, I was given the responsibility to organise the shop interior in accordance with a theme of my choice, and set it up when on site. At all festivals I managed cash securely, recorded it and stored it safely. Show less

      Keyholder

This post has given me a vast amount of responsibility, as my main roles include: opening and closing the store, cashing up and ensuring the money is stored safely, managing the store and motivating staff where necessary. Not only has this enhanced my managerial and communication skills, but also my administrative experience as I am often responding to emails, and telephone enquiries whilst also processing information onto the store's databases. Likewise, my ability to handle customer and corporate queries has grown throughout this role. Show less

      Tefl/tesol teacher

Camp Thailand assists with English teaching in Thailand to give children a stronger start in life. Prior to my trip I received my formal qualification; my 120 Internationally Accredited TEFL/TESOL Certification. Alongside this I had Thai lessons on arrival to teach me the basic language I would need daily. With these resources, I taught children age 2-3 in a kindergarten, and assisted in a summer camp with 100+ children. Likewise, I also spent the day at a local orphanage, providing them with essentials and interacting with the children. Show less

      Personal travel expert

Each Kuoni holiday is handcrafted for a customer and their individual needs. Kuoni pride themselves on personalised service, whether that be face to face, on the phone or via our online webchat network. The best holiday advice comes from the people who have visited those destinations, and thus I was considered an expert for certain worldwide destinations. It was in this job that I had the chance to travel to a new destination each year to enhance my knowledge of the world, and assist with customer’s enquiries by drawing on my own personal experiences. On a daily basis I would deal with hotel contracts, multiple software and enhance my familiarity with luxury hotel brands. Show less

      Aug 2020 - Nov 2020
      Valspar colour coach

As a Colour Coach, my role encompassed elements of sales and marketing. My role involved talking to customers on a daily basis advising the benefits of the paint, and helping them select the right colours. It is sometimes necessary to have difficult and challenging conversations to encourage people to buy into the brand, but I am motivated by this and have the confidence to adapt my selling style. I completed daily reports based on sales figures, enhancing my numerical skills. Whilst my role was heavily sales based, I did also focus on elements of marketing. I went above and beyond my job role to source exciting ways to get people involved with the brand; setting up various in-store demonstrations for the public to get involved with and communicating feedback back where possible.
