As the Quality Engineer for the Point Design Build Project, I coordinate quality activities for the Quality Oversight team. I train the Quality Oversight team to create and perform audits on production, quality control, and quality assurance. I develop monthly quality reports using the data from the audit conducted. I also develop semi-annual project reports that include quality information, project status, and projected activities for the following six months. During construction, I also perform field engineer activities including conducting audits on construction products and processes. I also participated in punch list inspections and project closeout. Show less UDOT has a wonderful program for entry level engineers, giving them the opportunity to 'rotate' from various engineering positions in the department to gain a variety of experience. This also allows the individual to decide which department they would prefer to continue their career. From May 2012 to December 2012, I was working in the Materials Lab with the Pavement Engineer. I developed several estimates, pavement designs and helped begin to update the pavement management system by reviewing and adding historic pavement data. From January 2013 to June 2013, I worked in Environmental Services. I have reviewed the environmental processes, policies and procedures applicable to the DOT. I developed several environmental documents (Categorical Exclusions) and noise studies. I attended meetings with various state and federal agencies discussing environmental procedures and possible changes to the department. I also attended an Audit performed by EPA and DWQ, where I learned more about the MS4 Permits and what is expected of the DOT. Starting on July 9, 2013, I will be working in Maintenance with the District Engineer. Show less
