  I am a Sexual Assault/ Child Advocacy Hotline Responder at The Cottage. This non-profit organization was started in 1974, and it oversees the Athens-Clarke community and surrounding areas. Here, I respond to anyone calling the hotline, and from there I connect them to resources to help their situation. The resources might include: safety shelters, food, medical assistance, mental health advocates, and more.

Under Dr. Ankita Garg’s instruction, I will be conducting an independent project that analyzes how human cells respond to Tuberculosis (Tb) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) antigens. My tasks will be to isolate and culture human peripheral blood mononuclear cells, measure immune molecules at a single cell level, and practice protein estimation and immunoblotting.

  As clinical coordinator and research scientist in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch at the NIDDK, I use translational research to investigate clinical inequities and physiological discrepancies in low income, minority youth with Type 2 Diabetes (YT2D).- Currently investigating NMR lipoprotein profiles in YT2D compared to patients with obesity. Specifically, I compare subclinical inflammatory marker GlycA to remnant lipoprotein particles to analyze residual CVD risk despite statin therapy. - Managed study analyzing endothelial dysfunction, an early marker of ASCVD, in YT2D compared to healthy aged matched peers via MRI imaging, isometric handgrip exercise, and exosome analysis. Found increased right coronary wall thickness, reduced brachial dilation, and increased inflammatory marker ICAM in YT2D. - Utilize Stata, GraphPad, Prism, and excel to quantify and analyze data.- Interact with patients, manage clinic, scribe, report to fellows / attendings / NP. Strive to enhance understanding of vascular aging in historically understudied minority YT2D through data driven practices, empathy, and compassion. Show less
