Led 12+ outreach events at nearby K-8 schools to engender interest and passion for science in their students through science demonstrations.   Awarded ~$10,000 in grant funding for a project titled "Investigating the Potential of Vagus Nerve Stimulation as a Primer for Neural Plasticity". Developing a literature review and SOP for use of taVNS in clinical research. Analyze neuropsychological evaluations to determine level of cognitive impairment of participants. Currently training in TMS and specimen collection.PI: Dr. Ying-Hui Chou Led a cohort of 120+ passionate students engaged in full-time research to connect with each other and give back to the surrounding communities. Organized educational workshops and volunteer/outreach events while leading the officer board and supporting them whenever needed. Completed organic synthesis reactions within a laboratory setting to create glycosides. Analyzed structures of experimental molecules within the computational chemistry program Molecular Operating Environment (MOE) to improve the efficacy of possible therapeutic drugs for neurodegenerative diseases.PI: Dr. Robin Polt

  Garden operations committee member

  Serve on the Garden Operations Committee to fix issues with and improve the quality of all 17 community gardens. Help ensure all volunteers and gardeners have proper access to and knowledge of gardening through education outreach. Research possible improvements to the current functioning of the gardens. Organized and led a 30+ volunteer workday to build 4 new ADA-accessible gardening beds in a largely older age demographic area.

  1 of 3 managers of the University of Arizona Community Garden. Coordinated volunteer workdays, plot rentals, events, & plan projects to improve the space. Tended to 30+ garden beds and help renters garden sustainably while ensuring crop growth. Harvested fresh produce to be donated to Campus Pantry for students in need. Organized & managed a seed "library" for free community access to native seeds. Improved sustainability within the University through educational outreach & support.
