  I imported Maxtec cartridges from China. It was generic cartridges that gives people more value for money, with the same 5% page yield as normal OEM Cartridges. I was responsible for Sales, Credit, and Admin as it was a small one man operation. The generic cartridge business is incredibly challenging, due to the fact that you are in high competition with original manufacturers who always encourage users to buy original cartridges. There were also many bridges and challenges to overcome, in the manufacturing of these generic cartridges as most of the original manufacturers ensure that their cartridges cannot be copied and manufactured. Most original printers would also notify users if an generic cartridge have been inserted into a printer, and therefore good sales skills and excellent customer relations ensured for me to move forward with relative ease, and I generated a reasonable income with all these challenges.   Telesales division

  There was no Telesales Division, so I was responsible for developing this division from grass route level. I handled the division all on my own, phoning clients, loading sales orders onto the system, opening new accounts, re-engaging with clients from rural areas, which reps could not see, handling complaints. I only missed my monthly sales targets three or four times, in 39 months. Broke the daily sales record twice. What made it challenging is that I worked with small COD clients, in rural places. I also assisted with Data Capturing, with loading sales orders, and manned the phone to give end users and dealers expert advise on Nikon D-SLR, Nikon Cool-pix, Nikon Optics, and Lexar memory, from usb's to XQD, and Micro SD and normal SD card. Product knowledge is a must for me, and my knowledge was very extensive, and I knew my products well. I also went the extra mile for all my clients, and saw complaints as a very big opportunity to make another sale. Attended board meetings on weekly bases, communicated well with my national Sales Manager. Show less

Before joining the company, I was asked to source a product of premium quality, that could generate good revenue. Part of my job description was to identify the product, touch base with the overseas supplier, negotiate distribution rights and pricing, develop sales channels and a marketing plan. I wrote the business plan, marketing plan, and negotiated a fair price. I had also studied the South African market, by doing a deep study of the three major players in South Africa. At the end of my research, I had all the information on their product, market strategy, price, channels they use to move the product, company information, and annual profit indicators.
