(ESCL), Department of Electrical Engineering• Developed a battery energy storage system (BESS) control model to improve power quality and reduce peak loads, considering BESS state-of-charge (SoC) and time-of-day (ToD) operation of customers’ load.• Co-developed an optimal sizing approach for lithium-ion battery systems, incorporating the battery’s nonlinearity features via Peukert's law and analyzing load conditions employing EVs and PV generators.• Implemented the flower pollination algorithm (FPA) to optimize maximum power output in PV systems, considering complex partial shading conditions, real-world field irradiance data, and complex PV configurations.• Proposed an improved elastic net (IEN) regularization with an adaptive elastic net penalty to estimate the distribution of relaxation times (DRT) to interpret and analyze lithium-ion battery electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) data of different SoCs and temperatures.• Co-introduced a novel method for achieving an enhanced battery SoC estimate through denoising the discharge-charge voltage noisy signal resulting from unexpected noise sensing in the BMS.
