Traditionally, research in this area has focussed predominantly on the student participants to the detriment of the in-country partners who host students, and the academic and professional staff who design and implement programs. This qualitative doctoral research reveals how these key stakeholders experience and perceive learning abroad programs. Strategies are provided for higher education institutions to incorporate into future programs for more ethical, collaborative, and inclusive programs that deliver transformational learning experiences for students.
