  Serve as the chief administrator for Surry County government appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Responsibilities include supervision of county operations in accordance with state and local laws, regulations, policies, direction and guidance the Board of Commissioners authorize. In addition, I am responsible for preparing and submitting an annual budget to the Board as well as advising the Board on financial matters, services and other issues. Worked with project-based economic development initiatives and marketing projects that supported local industries, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. Developed and recommended incentive proposals for new and expanding industries and businesses and was a member of the Pilot Mountain Pride development and implementation team. Managed the County's marketing program targeted at encouraging increased visitor spending and worked on water and sewer infrastructure projects. Managed the County's land use and zoning program, including land subdivision, permitting, mountain ridge protection, watershed protection, etc. Participated in developing Surry's first countywide zoning ordinance and first comprehensive land use plan. Worked on a number of small area planning initiatives in growing and/or emerging areas of the county.
