      Served on the Board of Directors for fifteen years. Held the positions of Secretary-Treasurer (4 years), President (2 years) and Vice-President of Operations (9 years). Have represented the IFCA on the National Volunteer Fire Council as a State Director and on the Idaho National Fire Plan Committee. Retired in 2010 and moved to Georgia, but continued to serve as Vice-President of Operations and, until January 2015, served as their webmaster. Doug is a Life Member of the IFCA.

      Responsible for leadership and management of the Fire Marshal's Office for the second largest city in the metro Atlanta area with a fixed population of 106K residents and a weekday population of over 200K people. Provide direction and support for two Deputy Fire Marshals and five Fire Inspectors. Oversee numerous fire prevention programs and efforts including commercial building inspections, plan reviews and fire investigations. Responsible for fire and life safety for over 5K businesses including three major hospitals and 62 high-rise buildings including several Fortune 500 corporate headquarters. Current building boom has over a dozen new mid-rise mixed-use buildings under construction and several new high-rise buildings proposed. Our focus is to provide exemplary customer service to citizens, businesses and visitors to Sandy Springs helping to ensure their safety and that of our firefighters.       Program Manager - Georgia Pipeline Emergency Response Initiative

      Recommended by the Georgia Pipeline Operators and Emergency Responders Coalition Steering Committee to coordinate, organize and develop a statewide training program, through the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs. That program is the Georgia Pipeline Emergency Response Initiative (GPERI). Detailed information on the program is available at www.gafc.org/projects.php. The program delivers instructor-based training to emergency responders in prevention, response and recovery from natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline incidents. The project's co-operators include numerous pipeline operators, the Georgia Public Safety Training Center / Georgia Fire Academy and the Georgia Public Service Commission. The program offers 16, 8 and 4 hour modules of training at no cost to emergency responders who have hazardous materials pipelines in or within mutual aid range of their jurisdictions. The program is being developed as a national model for pipeline safety training in consortia with USDOT / PHMSA. Show less
