      Director of recreational therapy

      Winning Wheels was designed to be a short term rehabilitation facility for those who had suffered a traumatic injury resulting in a Brain Injury or other like traumas. The residents at Winning Wheels ranged from extremely impaired to moderately impaired. During my time at Winning Wheels I was a dedicated member of the Rehabilitation Team. As the Director Of Recreational Therapy my responsibilities included developing goals and interventions to increase/improve motor skills, functional skills, social/emotional skills and increasing independence for 88 residents. I worked alongside Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech therapy.For my position I was in charge of creating, developing and implementing a monthly Activity Calendar for 88 residents that were working towards improving a residents overall well being.I was also in charge of organizing an Outing Calendar to ensure 88 residents were able to spend quality time outside of the facility, again working towards increasing independence. During my time at Winning Wheels I was also brought on the Social Services team to assist the department when they suffered from a loss of staff. Carried a caseload of 18 residents on top of my other duties. My job heavily relied on documentation, thinking outside the box, clear communication between facility administration, Department heads and family representatives of residents. Show less
