    • Triggerfish

      Sept 2014 - Apr 2015
      3d modelling artist

My duties as a modeller would often be to use 2D concepts and creating 3D models, sometimes we would have clay sculpted machetes to use as reference. Other times I would just be given pictures from the children’s book, that the movie is based on, and be asked to convert it into the style/feel of the movie. On a few occasions there was no art/or book illustrations and I was asked to make something that existed in the world around us, but wasn’t depicted anywhere in the books, I would research said objects and model them in a style that was suited for the production. A lot of the models for this production had to look as if made from clay, paper or plastic (similar to what a stop frame model builder would use).I found it a fun challenge and good experience to try and model organic and sometimes complex objects to look like they made out of said materials. Part of the production as modellers we were also asked to unwrap all models in a structured and standardized manner for the texturing department. Another part of my job as a modeller I really enjoy was being asked to use zbrush to add detail to models and give some models just that little bit more finesse to make the objects extra appealing. I was also asked to do a lot of the initial tool testing for the production.Stickman is currently still in production and will be releasing on Christmas day 2015 on BBC 1. Show less

    • Animal logic

      May 2015 - Apr 2016
      Modelling artist

While at Animal Logic I was assigned to two different projects, The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. My time was divided, more or less, equally between the two movies. Mainly using software such as Maya and LDD, my duties consisted of making perfect LEGO bricks, creating characters, buildings, vehicles, assets and props for sets. I also had to set-dress and complete entire sets. I worked mainly on environments, working on anything from small details such as placing flowers and trash to creating building and skyscrapers. While working on The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, I was able to work on a wide variety of sets and assets. There where some amazing artists in my team that I was able to learn a lot from. I also did some zbrushing, creating assets from scratch and adding detail to key assets and props. As a modeller, I was also expected to unwrap all the models I’ve made and make sure that they where ready for the next phase of the production. The modelling team worked very closely with the art department and directors to get the perfect look and feel. Working with a specific style like LEGO required a lot of problem solving and innovation. We had to learn and use many tools developed just for these projects. With the guidance of the art director, we were encourage to be creative and do as much as we could to achieve the bestand most appealing LEGO look. Show less
